NEW BOOK RELEASE UPCOMING!
A Chance Encounter. A Nation on Edge. A Young Man Drawn into the Inner Circle of Power.
Early Morning with Dick, a gripping work of historical fiction by Jack Ryan, will be published by Woodbridge Publishers on June 14, 2026.
What if history didn’t knock—but stopped to talk?
Set against the charged backdrop of late-1960s Washington, Early Morning with Dick follows Ryan Murphy, a first-year law student at Georgetown University whose life is forever altered after a chance, early-morning encounter with President Richard Milhous Nixon on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial. What begins as an improbable exchange evolves
into a series of clandestine meetings—intimate conversations that blur the lines between mentorship, manipulation, and moral reckoning.
As Murphy navigates the pressures of law school alongside the growing weight of national secrets, the novel becomes a powerful meditation on ambition, service, and the cost of proximity to power. With the shadow of Watergate looming and intelligence agencies taking notice, Murphy must confront a defining question: how close is too close when the foundations of democracy begin to fracture?
In the tradition of classic political fiction, Early Morning with Dick captures the inner workings of Washington with precision and tension. It blends the moral awakening of youth with the unsettling realization that institutions are not immune to corruption. Seen through the eyes of a young man standing at the threshold of history, the novel offers a fresh and compelling perspective on one of America’s most turbulent eras.
At its core, this is a coming-of-age story set within the corridors of power—one that asks what it means to grow up when belief in institutions is faltering and when the choices of the young may shape the future of the republic.
Smart, suspenseful, and quietly provocative, Early Morning with Dick reminds readers that history is not only shaped by presidents and scandals—but by those close enough to ask difficult questions, and courageous enough to hear the answers.
